Help!

I am having the HARDEST time feeding my kids. They are both highly allergic to milk and peanuts. They are also very picky, so I don't have many choices. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Also, how do you get a picky kid to eat something he doesn't want? I'm worried they're not getting enough nutrients, and too much fat and salt. Anyway, thanks for listening!

Hey Holly! My husband is allergic to dairy and there are lots of substitutions you can make. For butter we use Nucoa...it's a non-dairy vegetable margarine and it's great to cook with because it doesn't burn. If you want to make a white sauce of any kind Mocha Mix is a non-dairy creamer that acts like milk. It's not quite as thick but it works for us. He found a good ice cream made from tofu called Tofutti...I've actually tried it and it's not bad. Do they like any kind of meat? We do chicken, pork, and lean hamburger. Fruits and veggies always work great and whole grains are good too. Let me know if you want specific things. I have lots of good non-dairy recipes!

Hello!! I was so excited to see your comment!! You're kids are dang cute by the way and SO grown up. Crazy! Jarom and I miss Utah too sometimes (something I never thought I'd say), we are living in Riverside, CA now and I miss the seasons and green of Utah.
Sorry to hear about your kids, it's gotta be so hard to make food for them. Jarom's brother is lactose intolerant and it's been a quest finding things for him, but they have. Good luck with that, you're creative so you'll work it out. Anyhow, I'm so excited you found me, we will definitely keep in touch!

Hey you guys!! I'm so glad you found us, and surprised you did, I never have any luck finding anyone! Nor do I have luck with "feeding time". Sorry I don't have helpful info for your dilemma, but sure was glad to hear from you.
Peace out ya'll!

One thing I read in a magazine once that I thought was pretty cute was using tooth picks and making eating veggies fun. So basically, they eat their whole meal with tooth picks. It's worth a try. :) Good luck.

Hi Hobbely Wobbely- what the heck??? I didn't know Brooklyn was allergic too. Holy cow. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who said we try to shove food down our kids throats and parents have a total mis-conception of the amount of food our kids actually NEED to have each day. She said kids don't actually need any more than a few tablespoons of food at each meal. I figure if my kids are hungry, they will eat. I am sure yours will do the same. Wow girl, hang in there.

Holly! I feel for you-I didn't know they were both allergic. Katelynn isn't so far, but Jacob still is. I heard an idea once where you get an ice tray and fill it with little pieces of foods you would like them to eat. It is supposed to be fun because it is different-and finger foods are fun. You can always try making a popsicle out of it! Good luck!
